Two amazing young women have put together this monthly event that you should go visit. This Harrisburg curated pop-up market takes the meaning of flea markets and turns it into something brand new! This is its third year running, and it promises to continue to be worthwhile. Visit their site for more information - https://www.hbgflea.com/
The emphasis is on creative ways to utilize old materials to create upcycled, recycled, & repurposed objects that keep discarded items out of landfills and gives them new life.
My daughter and I have teamed up to participate in this event. You will not believe what we are doing!
Check out Erin's instagram account, @1rarebird, for some of what she's been making. She will be posting items on her new Etsy page, StudioBibelot, as well, so keep an eye open for that, too.
After the death of my mother-in-law, we were faced with clearing out her house and finding ways to preserve some of what she loved. Many of the items we will be selling at the HGB Flea will have materials salvaged from her belongings.
Not only do we reduce the amount of stuff that ends up in landfills, but we also keep part of a loved one alive through the memories we make with these new creations.
So, next time you get ready to toss something in the trash think about how you might be able to give new life to old objects.
Here are a few of the items we've been busy creating--
Storybook Journals from discarded children's books!
Old photos and books become fascinating new journals and notebooks.
Old materials combine with found objects and jewelry to make fun bookmarks.
Keep checking the HGB Flea website for upcoming events. Come visit us on April 7 to see what all the excitement is about!
